As you've probably already guessed, this is a Dir en grey fansite mainly dedicated to tackling and deciphering the wonderful complexity that is the band's lyrics. The translations here attempt to best portray Dir en grey's lyrics using the English language, my relative knowledge of Japanese, the original text and the songs themselves. The aim is to try and convey the band's message in a way that'll make people think come to an understanding of their own.
New translations are constantly being added, so make sure to check back often for new stuff! Become a true Warutardo by registering as a member and benefit from all the perks such as access to the forums and e-mail notices when new content is added.
If you are new to Dir en grey or would just like to see some extra info on the band make sure to check out the "About Dir en grey" page before venturing into the translations.
I also highly recommend taking a look at the "About Japanese" page. It's just a few things about the language that I believe would be useful and beneficial to the better understanding of the lyrics.
I'd like to point out that what you will find here is all personal interpretations. The Japanese language has a structure which can easily confuse, give double meanings, etc. and when it comes to translations it can prove to be quite tricky. Furthermore, song lyrics are a very artistic form of expression, so the transmission to another language is always hard.
There is also something else: Dir en grey songs are a very personal experience. Kyo has said time and again that he'd rather have each fan feel the song as he or she sees fit in stead of trying to understand what the lyrics were initially supposed to mean. However, don't hesitate to use the forum and discuss the meaning of songs all you want!
Various notes will often be found after a translation to better explain certain lines and I highly recommend that you read them, sometimes they're essential to a translation.
Keep in mind that all translations here are not professional and cannot assure 100% accuracy. Though if you like the posts, you can feel free to use them elsewhere. However, you should give a link to this website if you ever do so or at least mention Japistachoco as the author. What won't be tolerated is anybody who claims anything posted on this site as his own.
Comments are always appreciated, criticism included. Use the forum to talk about anything and everything. And if you have any questions, don't be shy to use the Contact Me page! Feel free to browse around and interact with the other members, discuss the lyrics, the band, etc. Let's all help this community grow and move forward! Let's all be good little Warutardos!
